Coming Soon: Lilith, Luna's Soldier and Luz Tokio

All three female characters from the Malefic Time fantasy universe will soon be available from the Shire Works blogshop. Lilith is a character from the first installment (Malefic Time: Apocalypse) of a joint project by artists Luis Royo and Romulo Royo while both Luna's Soldier and Luz Tokio are from the second installment (Malefic Time: 110 Katanas).

Malefic Time's main story/adventure occurs in three books i.e. Apocalypse, 110 Katanas and Akelarre (not yet published). First two books in this project are in Spanish. Miniatures shown below are in 70-mm or 1:24 scale, are supplied unpainted and will require assembly.

Coming Soon: Urban Monster Hunter

New from Ax Faction is a 32-mm scale miniature with the company's trademark detailed base is the Urban Monster Hunter. She was created by Ax Faction in collaboration with a top US artist who has take a break from working with the likes of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Heavy Metal Magazine, Slayer, Converse and EMI to name a few i.e. Nate Van Dyke.

Both resin miniatures are 70-mm model kits or roughly 1:28th in scale. As always, both will be supplied unpainted and will require assembly. Prices for the figures will be announced later on this link once stock has arrived on these shores. 

Introducing Knight Models miniatures

Fully imported from Spain, Knight Models is a unique line of miniature models based on popular licenses such as the Marvel Universe. Produced for painters and collectors, the Knight Models model kits are faithfully portrayed down to the smallest details. All Knight Models miniatures are supplied unpainted and will require assembly. 

Comprising either white metal alloy and/or high quality resin, the miniatures are supplied unpainted and will require assembly. Knight Models miniatures are produced at 1/28th scale. On average, the Knight Models miniatures range roughly between 60-mm to 90-mm in actual height as measured from the base to the highest point of the miniature.

Unboxed with protective packaging

Majority of the Knight Models miniatures come in a cardboard box measuring about 13 cm by 10.5 cm by 4.5 cm (length, width, height) as shown in the immediate two photos above. The sole exception is The Hulk miniature which comes in a tin box measuring approximately 31 cm by 8 cm by 5.25 cm (length, width, height) as shown in the following two photos below.

All the Knight Models miniatures are encased in protective foam that gives added protection to the packaging during delivery. While most of the model kits are made from white metal, some like The Hulk comprises solely of resin parts while others like Spiderman is a mixture of both resin and white metal parts.

Introducing Ax Faction miniatures

Ax Faction is a UK-based company which produces edgy and exquisite 32mm resin miniatures with brash styling and provocative design based on the semi-secret sect of Hunters from history. All Ax Faction miniatures are all sculpted from the outset at 32mm scale by hand. They come packaged in a sturdy protective cardboard box measuring about 5cm (length) by 5cm (width) by 2.5cm (height).

Produced for the painter, collector, role-player and wargamer, the Ax Faction miniatures also come with collectible A5-sized art cards. These double-sided cards contain a brief description of the miniatures on one side and it's artwork on the other.

Being a resin model kit, the Ax Faction miniatures are highly detailed and come unpainted as well as require assembly. As with any other resin kits, the miniatures do contain the usual mould lines, flash, etc, which must be removed during the preparation stage prior to priming and painting. Coming soon in the Shire Works blogshop will be a post on how to work with resin miniatures so stay tuned for that. Introducing Nocturna Models miniatures

Nocturna Models is a Madrid-based company which specialises in highly detailed resin model kit miniatures. Their miniatures come unpainted and require assembly, and are packaged in either rigid blister plastic packaging (54-mm miniatures) or metal tin boxes (70-mm and above). The latter contains sponges which give added protection to the resin model kit. Below is an introduction to the Nocturna Models as represented by selected products.

Because the Nocturna Models miniatures are made from resin, they are extremely detailed. More importantly, mould lines, broken parts (due to the relatively higher brittleness of resin versus metal and plastic), warping, trapped bubbles and other characteristics associated with resin model kits were either non-existent or kept to a minimum. For hobbyists, this means less time spent on preparing the miniatures and getting them ready for priming.

Le Petit Chaperon comprised 12 separate parts and is the largest mini in Nocturna Models at 80-mm scale

Meanwhile, miniatures sized 70-mm and above also come with numbered HD Cast certificates. All the miniatures including the 54-mm ones come with a picture of a fully painted miniature which can serve as a painting guide for miniature hobbyists.
